Stand up comedian Harriet Kemsley is coming to Margate for a special show at ARK in Cliftonville to mark International Women's Day on Saturday, March 8 at Ark. She will be supported by Helen Heckety, while Amber Topaz will MC the night. Tickets are £15

If you’re in London on Sunday, February 16, and up for a leisurely day, head to The Sunday Papers Live at their new venue, Park Village, One Park Village East, Regents Park, NW1 7PX. It’s like reading the paper, but better, with talks, arts and crafts, pub quizzes, music and stalls that bring all the classic weekend read segments to life. Doors open at 12.30pm, with the show running 1pm-9pm, with talks between 1pm-6pm. Tickets from £20, and pre-order a roast (£21).

Tonight is Record Roulette at Neptune’s Hall in Broadstairs. It’s the night where anything could happen. Musically, at least. Who’s DJing? You are! It’s open decks all night. Just turn up with five records you deeply believe that a pub full of people need to hear and wait your turn. Starts at 8pm, but get down early to ensure your name is on the list to DJ

Kate Bush lovers can run up that hill to Folkestone, when The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever returns. On July 20, at Folkestone Harbour, donn your most romantic red threads to join in the mass performance of Wuthering Heights, or wear what you like to watch the spectacle. There’s dance practices in the lead up, but no doubt you can just turn up and twirl. Follow mostwutheringheightsdayfolke for updates. Alternatively, as previously mentioned, tickets are available now to take part at the Oval Bandstand in Cliftonville on Sunday July 27 from 12pm

Creek Creative Studios in Faversham will host an Experimental monoprinting workshop on Saturday, March 1 with artist and The Margate School alumni Erin Byrne. Suitable for beginners, participants will play around with layering and blending marks and creating textures with a variety of techniques, as you create your own Kent nature-inspired artworks which you can then hang on your wall. Running 11am-3pm, tickets are free, but there’s a £5 booking fee. All materials are provided.

Broadstairs wine bar, Salt is hosting acoustic live music session Softly Softly on Sunday, March 9. Trot down between 3.15pm and 5.30pm for a chilled afternoon of unplugged music, wine, cocktails and picky bits. Tickets £5, book through @softlysoftlyuk

Ramsgate’s Our Curated Abode’s first vintage market was so good, they’ve announced dates for a second. Head to the DIY and Interiors store on Addington Street on the weekend of March 29-30 for more preloved homey treasures. 

Punk band Lambrini Girls released their debut album Who Let The Dogs Out at the beginning of the year, gaining critical and public acclaim after a wait of several years. Now the album’s out though, what is there to look forward to? Oh, there are things, but most relevant is the band’s show at Margate Lido. You have almost the whole year to look forward to that, because it won’t happen until Friday, November 21. It’s going to be so much fun. Tickets are £16.50.

French singer-songwriter Laura Cahen has just released her third album De L'autre Côté, most of which was recorded in Margate with producer Mike Lindsay. Later this month, on Saturday, February 22, she will kick off a UK tour at Margate’s Tom Thumb Theatre. Supporting her will be the also great Alexander Carson. Tickets are £10

Ready to bring the sunshine vibes, the latest act added to the line up of Margate Summer Series shows at Dreamland are extreme metal legends Cradle Of Filth. As many of you will know, the sound from these shows is crystal clear in parts of Cliftonville. Very excited to hear what our neighbours make of this gig. It’s set for Tuesday, July 8. Supporting will be Nervosa. Tickets are £31.80.

Coming up at Salon in Cliftonville, artist Dr Melanie King and astronomer Dr Claudia Mignone will launch new exhibition In Praise Of Raw Data. The collection of images highlight “the beauty of raw data artefacts resulting from cosmic interactions with telescope sensors.” There will be a launch event on Thursday, February 27 from 6-9pm, with a live performance from musician Clementine Blue. Speaking of Salon, the gallery is currently raising money to repair its beautiful antique curved glass window, which was recently broken."While we have insurance, there is a premium of £300 which we cannot afford,” they explain. Throw in a quid (or two).

Wine consultant Natalie Suta - aka Wine Rocks - has announced a wine tasting evening at Fort Road Hotel later this month. She’ll guide you through sipping five award-winning wines and paired charcuterie. There’ll also be a wine-based quiz where you can win a prize (hopefully wine). Places cost £38.62. 

A fun edition to your Valentine’s Weekend (absolutely not a thing) is T33n_Angst's Valentine’s Disco at Margate Arts Club on Saturday, February 15. The playlist will be love songs all night. The twist is that they’ll start slow but get progressively faster. Those who make it to the end will be throwing shapes at 170bpm. Tickets £7

A date-night treat but also good for the gaggle, The Blue Pelican in Deal has launched its Cellar Bar. Open Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm, it’s got cocktails and luxe small bites such as croquettes, oysters, pickles and other various gourmet picky bits. Booking not required

If you want to really brave the cold, Mental Health Swims Margate meet on Sundays at Walpole tidal pool for a chilly dip. Meeting times change week to week, with this Sunday’s bracing dip taking place at 9.30am. Don’t forget to bring all your warm gear for after.
