Repair work on Thanet’s publicly owned museums is getting underway. Work has already begun on the Margate Museum and the adjoining Old Town Hall. Work on the Dickens House Museum in Broadstairs, Tudor House in Margate and Ramsgate Maritime Museum will follow in the coming months. Read more about the project here.

MOP will be taking over the kitchen at Louie On Sea in the Turner Contemporary gallery for three weeks later this month. They’ll be serving up bold and delicious small plates every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening from November 22 to December 14. Book your table here.
Artist Maxine Sutton’s new exhibition Can’t Sleep is on show at Margate’s Post Office Gallery on Cecil Square. Catch it Friday to Sunday 12-4pm until November 17.
It’s almost Beaujolais Nouveau time - the short-fermented wine that traditionally arrives in the third week of November. Sète in Cliftonville will be marking this year’s batch with a night of disco music, retro snacks and fresh bottles of the stuff on Thursday, November 21. Early bird tickets are available for £8, rising to £12 nearer the event.
Something else that arrives fresh at this time of year are chestnuts. On Sunday, December 15, Jack Goldstein will be taking over the kitchen at Madre in Margate to create a menu focussed on the tasty little nuggets. Places are £49.50, which gets you four courses and drinks.
Fancy trying your hand at linocut printing? Nick Morely - aka Linocutboy - is now booking workshops for the new year. They will take place at Hello Print Studio in Margate on three weekends in January, February and March. Places are £150. You’ll find full details and booking here.
If you’re heading into London, be sure to check out the Southbank Centre’s new outdoor exhibition Winter Light. A collection of illuminated artworks are dotted around the site, created by artists including Sophia Al Maria, Jacob Kvist, and David Bachelor. It’s free. Find out more here.
Poetry convention Poeticon is set to take place at the Clagett Auditorium in Canterbury on November 15-16. There will be a range of talks aimed at established acts and people just entering the industry. Book tickets and find out more here.
Melanin Power Up! and Margate Black Pride will be hosting a workshop LGBTQIA+ people of colour to explore experimental game design and playable art. It’ll take place at People Dem Collective on Marine Drive in Margate on November 15, 5-8.30pm. Places are £6.99 in advance. Book here.
The last Other Echoes experimental music night is on at 101 Social in Cliftonville on November 8. There will be live performances from Les Biologists Marins, Cloud Of Flies and Stray Wool. £8 suggested donation on the door.
The next edition of the Funny Cuts comedy night is set for Thursday, November 7 at Cramptons in Broadstairs. Performers include Jo Phaure, Kit Proudfoot and host Sham Shakil. Tickets are £5.
Poseidon Sound Club is a new night at Faith In Strangers in Cliftonville, allowing music makers of all genres to hear their music played through the venue’s sound system. As well as finding out how your track sound through some meaty speakers, it’s also an opportunity to receive feedback from a community of producers, musicians and fans. Margate’s Carb Museum has unveiled a new addition to its permanent collection, created by local artist Ty Locke. For those unaware, the Carb Museum is located in the toilets of the Crab Museum and (signage insists) insists due to an administrative error. Following a private view last night, the new artwork is now on show to the public.

The annual Quex Park fireworks display is on tonight. For your entry fee you’ll be treated to two fireworks displays and various performances, plus there are food stalls, bars and more. Get tickets here.
If you’re looking for fireworks on a tighter budget, The Brewing Brothers taproom on Folkestone’s Beachside Harbour Arm will be putting on a free display tonight. The show will start at 7pm but arrive early to get a good spot.
River Action and Surfers Against Sewage will be leading the March for Clean Water in central London on Sunday, November 3. The protest will call on the government to take immediate action against the water pollution crisis. Full details here.
Harmony is a new night for women, trans and non-binary musicians to meet and connect at Bar Nothing. The first edition will take place on November 6, 6-8pm and on the first Wednesday of each month after that.
The British Museum in London’s new exhibition of Pablo Picasso’s prints opens on November 7 and runs through to March next year. Tickets and info here.
